Family can be the difference maker for young adults who are experiencing homelessness and hopelessness. These young people are all alone, without family connections or abandoned/abused by the family they do have.

Many have escaped homes filled with violence and abuse after turning 18. Others have “aged out” of foster care. Some have been rescued from sex trafficking. Every day we hear stories of young people between the ages of 18 – 24 who have no one and are just dreaming of a day when they have a place to belong. These precious young men and women are couch surfing from friend-to-friend, living in shelters are surviving on the street.

Research has shown that if a young person even has one stable, caring adult influence in their life their ability to succeed is vastly impacted. You and I can be the hope they are looking for! At Connections Homes, we recruit and train families who have room in their heart, home and family for a young person who has no one. Family Matters. Having someone to call when you want to cook that favorite recipe. Knowing someone will answer the phone and tell you that they care when you’re having a bad day. Always having a seat at the Thanksgiving table. The safety and security of family is something that we often take for granted. Yet, even at this moment more than 85,000 young adults are wishing they had the opportunity to have that very thing.

You and I can make a difference. We can be a family to a young person who has no one. We can clear a seat at our Thanksgiving table. We can celebrate achievements. Collaborate in difficult decisions. And, we can be there with a shoulder to cry on when the day is long and a listening ear is all that’s needed.

  1. Hi, I just listened to the radio host on 102.7 Discuss this ministry and I would love to find out more. My husband and I live near the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and would like to connect with you. We would be happy to host foster adults for Thanksgiving and learn more about the ministry.
