Erin’s Legacy

Four years ago, Erin and her husband Michael began the adoption process to welcome older sibling groups that were going to age out of foster care into their family. In the process of classes, paperwork, and health checks, the Lundmark family came face-to-face with the greatest trial of their lives. An adoption-qualifying physical (required to adopt) revealed stage four colon cancer in Erin. Even though the doctors gave Erin a prognosis of little time left, she refused to give in and took the challenge head-on to “count it all joy in trial” as her beloved Bible taught her in James 1:2. Over the past three years, Erin has fought with her sword of faith and hand-in-hand with Jesus has overcome time and time again – living, loving, and leading others into a relationship with Jesus.

On August 15th, 2018, Erin’s battle with cancer was won and she met Jesus face-to-face. Yet, being the fighter that Erin was, she was determined to not leave this earth without leaving a mark for Jesus that will last beyond her life and into eternity for those who matter most to Jesus – the fatherless. In her final weeks, Erin made a request to her friend Jennifer Warawa to honor her own mission and take the journey full circle, giving the gift of family to youth aging out of foster care without a family.

ERIN’S LEGACY WILL BE TO PROVIDE THE SAME BELONGING THAT SHE HOPED TO GIVE TO A TEEN THROUGH FOSTER CARE TO YOUTH AGING OUT OF FOSTER CARE WITHOUT A FAMILY THROUGH CONNECTIONS HOMES. SHE INVITES EVERYONE WHO HAS LOVED HER, EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN INSPIRED BY HER STORY, AND EVERYONE WHO HAS PRAYED WITH AND FOR HER TO PARTICIPATE IN ERIN’S LEGACY AND STEP INTO THE STORY OF A YOUTH WITH FAMILY IN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN.

Below you’ll find a form to give a financial donation to help Connections Homes in their mission to prevent poverty and homelessness for youth aging out of foster care without family through a lifelong, stable connection to a Mentoring Family. To help ensure that Erin’s mission is carried out and honors her wishes, Jennifer will be joining the Board of Directors for Connections Homes working hands-on with the Connections Homes team to have an eternal impact, far beyond what Erin could have ever imagined.

Erin would also like to invite you to take the step that she and her family were taking four years ago to become a family to a youth without anyone. The form below also allows the opportunity for you to become a Mentoring Family through Connections Homes and step into the story of a young adult’s life forever.

Please continue to pray for Erin’s family, her husband Michael, and their children, Bryce (20), Thomas (18), and Jackson (15), and for their community of close friends and family.
