WOW! We are so impressed with the former foster youth we serve! Please help us congratulate our 2023 Impact Award Winner: Jared! Jared is a pre-med student who is currently transferring from the University of North Georgia (UNG) to the University of Toledo Medical School. He is highly motivated to make a difference through the field of medicine because of his personal health challenges. Jared is a kidney transplant recipient who is on the wait list for a second kidney transplant as well as a liver transplant. His goal is to become a transplant (nephrologist/ hepatologist) or trauma surgeon. Despite his challenging circumstances and busy schedule, Jared always finds time to make a difference for others. He is a fantastic advocate for Connections Homes and is always eager to spread the word about our cause to those around him. Since he was matched with his Mentoring Family in 2018, Jared has consistently volunteered and served at our events, always ready to lend a hand wherever it’s needed. Jared is a respectful, kind, hard-working, and dedicated young man who isn’t letting anything stop him from achieving his goals, including dialysis three days a week. While in school at UNG, Jared worked as a supplemental biology instructor and served as the president of the American Medical Student Association. His hobbies include cooking, playing video games, and fishing. We are thrilled to honor Jared for his selfless dedication to helping others through the field of medicine and volunteer service. Congratulations Jared!
